The color that changes everything
Every artwork has one color that becomes the heart of the piece.
Sometimes I choose it.
Sometimes it chooses me.
When you work with leather, color behaves in surprising ways. It doesn’t always sit neatly on the surface—it blends, absorbs, resists, shifts. A single stroke can completely change the mood.
And that’s why I’ve learned to pay attention when a color unexpectedly stands out.
Maybe it’s a deep blue that adds calm intensity.
Or a warm terracotta that brings a sense of comfort.
Or a bold red that suddenly makes everything feel more alive.
Recently, I was working on a piece in earthy tones. It felt soft, quiet, almost too calm. Then I added a touch of dark blue—just experimenting—and everything shifted. The blue created depth the piece didn’t have before. It gave the whole work a new direction, a stronger voice.
Colors do that in life too.
They influence how we feel, how we see a space, how we experience a moment.
So next time you look at one of my pieces, notice the color your eye goes to first.
It’s probably the color that changed everything—the one that shaped the story the leather wanted to tell.
